Data You Give Us Directly
You may provide an email address or message when you contact Stockton Residents Directory. Keep a request narrow and do not send identity documents, full Social Security numbers, financial account data, or sensitive records unless a verified custodian specifically requires them through its own channel. Messages are used to read and answer the request, maintain correspondence, and identify a broken reference.
Data We Gather Automatically
Web servers and hosting systems may record ordinary technical data such as an IP address, browser type, device details, requested URL, referring page, and time of access. Search widgets or sponsored tools may collect information under their own policies when a user chooses to submit a form. Stockton Residents Directory does not control those third-party systems.
What We Do With This Data
Limited contact or technical data may be used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, measure, and improve the reference. It is not used to create a government roll, decide whether someone is a resident, or alter a San Joaquin County or California record. Public records remain under the control of the Assessor, Recorder, County Clerk, court, election office, city department, library, museum, or other named custodian.
Links to Other Websites
Pages link to official portals such as the San Joaquin Recorder, Assessor, Superior Court, Registrar, CDPH, libraries, archives, and state searches. Those destinations have separate privacy notices, terms, cookies, retention rules, and forms. Opening an external link or using a search widget means the destination may process data under its own rules.
Who Might See Your Data
Access to a contact message may be limited to the people who operate or support the reference and to service providers needed for hosting, security, email, or technical maintenance. Data may be disclosed when required by law, to address abuse, or to protect the service and its users. No promise is made that a third-party search tool will follow this policy.
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for the small amount of information held here. No online transmission or storage system is completely secure. If a contact message contains more personal data than needed, the safest course is to ask the sender to use the correct official custodian channel.
Users Under 18
The reference is not directed to children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent personal information may use the Contact page to request review and deletion from the limited systems under our control.
Your Data Rights
California's Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 and following, provide covered consumers rights to know, delete, correct, limit use of sensitive personal information, and opt out of sale or sharing, subject to statutory exceptions. California's Delete Act, Civil Code sections 1798.99.80 and following, adds data-broker registration and deletion mechanisms. These rights concern data held by a covered business or broker. They do not erase a San Joaquin County Recorder instrument, court file, assessment record, voter record, or other government original.
Because Stockton Residents Directory keeps little information, a request usually involves a search of the contact mailbox and relevant technical logs. Send a request through the Contact page and describe the right being exercised. The California Privacy Protection Agency and Attorney General provide current state guidance for covered businesses and the DROP platform.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change when the service, a vendor, or California law changes. A new version becomes effective when posted. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use of the reference. For public-record removal, correction, or certification, contact the custodian office rather than this service.
